Carl L. Brooks Jr., age 29, of Bridgeport, was busted on Tuesday, Nov. 7, around 5 a.m. at an address on Nob Hill Circle.
According to the Connecticut State Police, a search warrant was executed following an investigation during which information was developed that identified Brooks as being involved in narcotics distribution.
At the time of the search warrant execution, Brooks was present. During the search that followed, detectives located and seized a Ruger .380 caliber handgun, a 50-round high-capacity magazine with ammunition. as well as packaging materials consistent with those used for illegal narcotics distribution, state police said.
Additionally, investigators seized approximately 10.45 grams of a white powder substance which tested positive for the presence of cocaine during a field test. Detectives also located and seized 52 grams of an off-white powder substance, which tested positive for the presence of fentanyl during a field test.
As a result, Brooks was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Troop G in Bridgeport, where he was processed and charged with the following:
- Possession with intent to sell narcotics (2 Counts)
- Criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition (2 Counts)
- Possession of a controlled substance within 200 Feet of a school/housing project
- Illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine
He was held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Bridgeport Superior Court, on Nov. 7.
